Solo, CyberNews. In the 2012/2013 academic year, UNS plans to open admissions for new study programs. They are Pharmacy Study Program (FMIPA), International Relations Study Program (FISIP), and Information and Communication Technology Education Study Program (FKIP).

“Currently the permit process has been sent to the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education, and we hope that the three of them can be approved in the 2012 academic year,” said UNS Chancellor Prof. Ravik Karsidi.

He said, for the Pharmacy Study Program, the permit has been proposed for a long time. The requirements are complete, there are 16 lecturers with master’s and doctoral degrees, laboratory facilities and others are also available.

”But at that time, we collided with the rules issued by professional institutions. Because in Solo there is already a Faculty of Pharmacy at UMS and Setia Budi University, so that in the end it cannot be recommended by professional institutions.

Finally, several years ago, UNS was only allowed to open for diploma programs, namely D3 Pharmacy. Currently, the study program has several times graduated intermediate experts in the field of pharmacy.

”Supposedly, at that time the permit was submitted in one package, namely D3 and S1. But S1 is still not allowed. So when it comes to supporting facilities and infrastructure, it’s no problem,” he said.

However, last year all the problems were resolved so that the licensing process for opening a Pharmacy S1 was sent again to the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education. But it turns out that until the implementation of this year’s SPMB, it has not come out.

”Hopefully, because everything is ready, in 2012/2013 the permit will be issued so that we can accept new students. Thus, we can enter the SNMPTN pathway,” said Ravik.

The same thing is also expected for the process of opening the International Relations Study Program at FISIP. Moreover, currently in Solo, there is only Slamet Riyadi University. As for UNS itself, there are already 7 lecturers so that the requirements can also be met.

No different, for the Information Systems Education Study Program, it has also finished preparing various requirements for submitting a permit for the opening of a new study program. Later, it will be under FKIP.
