Monitoring of Graduate Data
Tracer Study is one of the methods employed by study programs to gather feedback from alumni. The feedback received from alumni and their employers is essential for universities to enhance and develop the quality and education system. This feedback is also beneficial for the study program to understand the employment sectors of alumni, thereby reducing the gap between alumni competencies and the demands of the job market.
The tracer study of the alumni of the PTIK FKIP Study Program is conducted using the following methods:
- Assessment of Alumni Performance by Employers: To obtain performance data of PTIK FKIP UNS graduates, the following stages are implemented:
- Identifying the distribution of PTIK Alumni.
- Uploading the alumni performance assessment questionnaire on the study program’s website http://ptik.fkip.uns.ac.id. The questionnaire covers several aspects, including integrity, field-specific expertise, English proficiency, use of information technology, communication, teamwork, and self-development.
- Disseminating information on alumni data collection and performance assessment through social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and the study program’s website.
- Principals or work unit leaders assessing the performance of PTIK FKIP UNS graduates in their work environment online.
- The study program quality assurance team downloading and summarizing the results of the graduate performance assessment.
- Tabulating data in the form of percentages and graphs.
- Alumni Information System (SIA): Another mechanism used by the PTIK Study Program for the tracer study is collaboration with FKIP UNS to create an Alumni Information System (SIA). This system is integrated with the diploma legalization process. Alumni can access the system during the online diploma legalization process via http://legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id. The diploma legalization process requires alumni to complete a comprehensive form, including details such as name, study program, employer, waiting period, and more. Incomplete forms prevent alumni from obtaining a PIN for diploma legalization.
- The outcomes of these tracking methods form the basis for future study program development policies. One significant application of these policies, based on the results of the graduate performance evaluation, includes curriculum revision, evaluation of course competencies, prioritization of laboratory development and equipment purchases, enhancement of the learning process, determination of competency requirements for new lecturers, fundraising, job information dissemination, and network building.
The results of the tracer study of the ICT Education Study Program
Most of the waiting time for graduates to get their first job is 3 months (this data is obtained from information provided by alumni who are already working). The data was taken from www.legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id and www.ptik.fkip.uns.ac.id through the Alumni tracer menu. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to alumni and recapitulating online questionnaires that were integrated with the certificate legalization registration system. There are several things that can be obtained from this feedback, namely: alumni waiting period, participation in job acceptance tests and first salary.
The data obtained were then collected and recapitulated and analyzed in order to obtain the data as mentioned above.
From the table and figure above, the average waiting time is very good (<3 months). However, there are also many students who have found work before they graduate. So when you graduate, you can start working right away. The data is obtained from information provided by alumni who are already working.
Data on the suitability of the field of work with the field of study is obtained as per the search above, teaching at the Computer and Network Engineering Vocational School, Multimedia and RPL means according to the field of expertise. Some graduates work in industry, manufacturing and education and training.
Data on the percentage of graduates is obtained through the online diploma legalization registration system. In the system, one of the instruments that must be filled is the suitability of the job with the field of expertise. From this it can be calculated the percentage level of suitability of graduates’ work with their field of expertise. The data was taken from http://www.legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id through the alumni tracer menu. The suitability of alumni with jobs is shown in the following.
From the alumni data collection, there are several types of companies or fields of work that they are involved in, including banking, IT companies, non-IT companies, educators / teachers and further studies. In detail, the percentage of graduate work fields is shown in the following table:
Peuse tracking results for improvement
Furthermore, the follow-up from the results of the tracer study is used to make improvements in 4 main sectors, namely:
- In the learning process: From the results of the questionnaire feedback to alumni, several inputs were obtained in the form of improving skills in the field of Information Technology. The needs of stakeholders are included in the courses taught such as (Mikrotik, Corel Draw, Programming).
- Fundraising: PTIK Study Program directly does not ask for funds from alumni, but fundraising is manifested in the form of opportunities for collaboration, literature assistance and equipment assistance whose value is not small.
- Job information: from the tracking study, information about the company profile and workforce needs in the PTIK FKIP UNS Study Program will be obtained.
- Building networks: this form of communication for alumni is then accommodated by the PTIK Study Program in the form of an organization called IKA (Alumni Association) PTIK FKIP UNS..
