Efforts to track and record graduate data
Tracer Study is one of the methods used by study programs to obtain feedback from alumni. The results of the feedback obtained from alumni and alumni users are needed by universities for improvement and development of the quality and education system. The results of the feedback are also useful for the study program for the field of work of alumni users, reducing the differences in the competencies possessed by alumni and the demands of the world of work.
The tracer study of the alumni of the PTIK FKIP Study Program is carried out using the following methods:
- Assessment of alumni performance by users, to obtain performance data of graduates or alumni of PTIK FKIP UNS by users, it is carried out in several stages as follows:
- Identifying the distribution of PTIK Alumni,
- Uploading the alumni performance assessment questionnaire through the study program website http://ptik.fkip.uns.ac.id which consists of several points, including: integrity, expertise based on the field of science, English, use of information technology, communication, teamwork and self-development
- Disseminate information on alumni data collection and assessment of alumni users using social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp and the study program web.
- Principals or work unit leaders assess the performance of graduates of the PTIK FKIP UNS study program in their work environment online,
- The study program quality assurance team downloads and recapitulates the results of the graduate performance assessment,
- Tabulate data in the form of percentages and graphs
- Another mechanism applied by the PTIK Study Program in the context of a tracer study is to collaborate with FKIP UNS to create an Alumni Information System (SIA). The Alumni Information System is integrated in the diploma legalization process. The system can be accessed by all alumni during the online diploma legalization process via http://legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id. the diploma legalization process requires alumni to fill out a complete legalization form, including the name, study program, work agency, waiting period and others. If it is not filled out completely, then the alumni cannot get a PIN for the legalization of the diploma.
- The results of these various tracking methods become the basis for determining future study program development policies. The form of the study program development policy, one of which is based on the results of the graduate performance evaluation, is contained in the form of curriculum revision, evaluation of course competency determination, laboratory development priorities and equipment purchases, improvement of the learning process, determination of competency requirements for new lecturers, fundraising, job information and building network.
The results of the tracer study of the ICT Education Study Program
Most of the waiting time for graduates to get their first job is 3 months (this data is obtained from information provided by alumni who are already working). The data was taken from www.legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id and www.ptik.fkip.uns.ac.id through the Alumni tracer menu. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to alumni and recapitulating online questionnaires that were integrated with the certificate legalization registration system. There are several things that can be obtained from this feedback, namely: alumni waiting period, participation in job acceptance tests and first salary.
The data obtained were then collected and recapitulated and analyzed in order to obtain the data as mentioned above.
From the table and figure above, the average waiting time is very good (<3 months). However, there are also many students who have found work before they graduate. So when you graduate, you can start working right away. The data is obtained from information provided by alumni who are already working.
Data on the suitability of the field of work with the field of study is obtained as per the search above, teaching at the Computer and Network Engineering Vocational School, Multimedia and RPL means according to the field of expertise. Some graduates work in industry, manufacturing and education and training.
Data on the percentage of graduates is obtained through the online diploma legalization registration system. In the system, one of the instruments that must be filled is the suitability of the job with the field of expertise. From this it can be calculated the percentage level of suitability of graduates’ work with their field of expertise. The data was taken from http://www.legalisir.fkip.uns.ac.id through the alumni tracer menu. The suitability of alumni with jobs is shown in the following.
From the alumni data collection, there are several types of companies or fields of work that they are involved in, including banking, IT companies, non-IT companies, educators / teachers and further studies. In detail, the percentage of graduate work fields is shown in the following table:
Peuse tracking results for improvement
Furthermore, the follow-up from the results of the tracer study is used to make improvements in 4 main sectors, namely:
- In the learning process: From the results of the questionnaire feedback to alumni, several inputs were obtained in the form of improving skills in the field of Information Technology. The needs of stakeholders are included in the courses taught such as (Mikrotik, Corel Draw, Programming).
- Fundraising: PTIK Study Program directly does not ask for funds from alumni, but fundraising is manifested in the form of opportunities for collaboration, literature assistance and equipment assistance whose value is not small.
- Job information: from the tracking study, information about the company profile and workforce needs in the PTIK FKIP UNS Study Program will be obtained.
- Building networks: this form of communication for alumni is then accommodated by the PTIK Study Program in the form of an organization called IKA (Alumni Association) PTIK FKIP UNS..
